  1. triality says:

john agard discusses identity being a mixture of castes and uses colour black and white to examine himself – could be compared – ‘Half Caste’none of the romantic poets generally did abou multiple aspects of personality – so you can rule that out – look at early modernist poetry – TS eliot etc and move through the more recent stuff – Walt whitman may have something in his work ‘I sing the body electric’ where he talks to his body and exmaines it’s different roles.hope this gets you to a start anyhow – a level? degree?

  2. trevino says:

All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages. At first the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms; Then the whining school-boy, with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard, Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel, Seeking the bubble reputation Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice, In fair round belly with good capon lin’d, With eyes severe and beard of formal cut, Full of wise saws and modern instances; And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on side; His youthful hose, well sav’d, a world too wide For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion; Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything by williamshakespeare2nd poemWalking down the path of life, A path often hard, uphill and difficultI meet people who walk by my sideSome of them choose to touch meSome of them I touchSome of them hold my hand and walk with meAll of them scar me somehowI’ve met mean peopleViolent, angry peoplePeople dark in the soulPeople that look good on the outsidePeople funny and gracious on the surfaceBut void and empty on the insidePeople who try to cover their defects but can’tEmotionally naive, eternally lonely, unhappy and troubled people.I’ve met people who step on me to get tallerPeople who break me to feel betterPeople who want me for one night onlyPeople who hurt me and don’t careWeird, strange and unstable peopleNo sense in their behaviorPeople who take advantage of what I give themPeople who don’t appreciate mePeople who expunge me from their life for goodPeople who erase me and cancel me with a messagePeople who refuse to take my callsPeople who avoid me like the plagueIrrational people who I want to know betterPeople who interest me nevertheless…People who promise won’t treat me badbut do so anyway without explanationPeople who reject me abruptlyPeople who switch me off with the push of a buttonPeople careless about my feelingsOblivious, confused and indifferentPeople who jerk me around for a week Playing with my vulnerable souland toss me in the garbage afterwards. Why, I ask, why is this happening?
